For the last three years I have attended the Photography Show at the NEC in Birmingham, UK. The photography is the biggest get together of camera geeks Europe has seen, Im also one of those geeks.
Part from a self indulgent day out for some friends it a great way to keep on top of trends and technologies to make sure I'm providing the very best for my customers. there are lots of workshops happening everywhere on the day and I really have come across some great photographers showing the crowds great ways of utilising equipment and giving the us some new ideas that we can use at weddings. Some of the stand out out people for me were Jake Hicks who was at last years she, Gavin Hoey and Ian Munro. These type of photographers are very creative and have built up great reputations in the world of photography and now training other photographers to achieve their potential. Go check out their work (please note you may see some creative nudity in their portfolios) also had a surprise to bump into top kit reviewer Kai Wong from Digital rev trying to fold a reflector in a record breaking time.. I think he failed, but he was a top bloke.
Another good reason to attend the show is for for 100s of trade stands showing latest equipment and discounts of various photography gadgets. This year it was at about "Drones" still makes me think I would crash one if I had to fly one and I couldn't go through my flying licence to have one.
I did think I would have taken more photos on the day but clearly I got carried away with all the temptation on offer. This year I only walked away with some new flash modifiers so I can get some new looks with portraits at weddings.
Photography is a very big monster but I always like to keep ahead of the game and provide a great service in Aberdare and South Wales with quality wedding photography. Its what Clixx Photography is all about.
